Ferney Manrique-Aragon
Hello there, my name is Ferney, and I'm a visual artist based in China. I've been working with photography for over a decade, and as an artist, I prefer to use analogue photography as my tool of the trade. I find that it allows me to fully immerse myself in the symbiotic nature of being present or absent before the object/subject.
My body of work mainly focuses on street photography. However, my unique approach to film photography constantly leads me to experiment with chemical processes in film development and the physical mechanisms of the camera itself. I've delved deeply into researching composition concerning frame and time, pushing the boundaries of what the frame encapsulates. By doing so, the full extension of the negative plays a fundamental aspect in the act of image-making as a form of representation, as well as an apprehensive response to perception.
As an artist, I'm continually exploring and experimenting with new techniques and approaches to create thought-provoking and evocative images that capture the essence of my subjects. My passion for photography drives me to push the limits of my creativity, and I'm always on the lookout for new inspiration and ways to express myself through my work.
